When we first started our special project we thought cookbook making sounded simple, but we sure had our assumptions wrong! We soon realised that it wasn’t just about writing some recipes, taking a few photos and binding it all together. There were a whole bunch of unforeseen tasks to do, shortly realising that what we were getting into wasn’t just creating a book, but also creating a small business. Nearly two entire years later we’ve only nearly reached the end, and now we’d like to take you through our journey to show you how we tackled our project. We hope that you can find inspiration through each of our blogs below to make your very own cookbook, or to kick off a business idea that you’re passionate about that’s lurking in the back of your mind!

Social media & marketing The power of social media is insane! For this reason, we chose it as our main channel for engaging with our customers and marketing our book. With the self-publishing route we went down, it was important

Shipping & packaging Have you ever got a package in the mail where more than half of the product is bubble wrap and unnecessary plastic packaging? I certainly have, and this really frustrates me. No one likes plastic. It’s damaging

Printing Printing our cookbook was fascinating. It was incredible seeing what goes on behind the scenes to print a book, but I’m not gonna lie, it was a tough step in the journey. We couldn’t just press ‘print’ on our laptop, pick up t

Book cover I’m sure we’ve all heard that saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. Mum and I certainly have, and it’s something that we don’t quite believe in! Let’s face it, as humans we are so quick at automatically judging things, a
